Getting started & onboarding

Resetting your password

If you cannot remember your password, click "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in screen and enter your email. We send you a link to choose a new one, at least 8 characters long.

For security, you always see the same notice, "Check your email", whether or not an account exists with that email. If the email does not arrive within a few minutes, look in your spam folder and check that you entered the email you signed up with.

If you fail several times in a row, the screen asks you to wait. After too many attempts to sign in to the same account, from the same connection, or to request reset links, you see "Too many attempts in a row". Wait a few minutes (up to a quarter of an hour to sign in, up to an hour to request links) and try again. Meanwhile, "Sign in with Google" is still available if your account uses that email. And if someone else tries passwords against your account from other places, you can still sign in from a browser where you signed in with your password before.

If the screen says your account is locked on new browsers, there have been too many attempts to sign in to it from many places, and waiting is not enough while they go on. Click "Email me the link": we send you the password reset link. Open it in that same browser, choose a new password and sign in with it; from then on that browser gets in even if the attempts go on. If you open it somewhere else, on your phone for example, that other browser is the one unlocked. If the screen says several links have already been requested in the last hour, use the latest one you received.

When the email or the password is wrong, the screen does not say which of the two it is, so that nobody can find out whether an email has an account.

The link works for one hour, and only once. If you open it later, you see "This link has expired". If the link is incomplete or no longer works for another reason, for example because you already used it, you see "Invalid or expired link". In both cases, click "Request a new link" and use the new one before the hour is up.

Once you have changed it, sign in with your email and your new password. Changing your password, whether with this link or from your profile, signs you out of your other devices and browsers, and you will have to sign in again on them. If you change it from your profile, the session you do it in stays open.
