You can make a tag send a series of emails on its own: for example, everyone you mark as "VIP" gets three emails spread over a week.
You set it up once. In Clients, open email (the "New" button), go to the "Sequences" tab and click "New sequence". Choose the "Tag added" trigger, type the tag (for example, "VIP") and add the steps: which template goes out in each one and how many hours after the previous one.
Then, in the Clients list, type that tag in the customer's "Tags" column and press Enter. As you type we suggest your sequences' tags, and capital letters or extra spaces do not matter: "vip" works the same as "VIP". Under the tag you will see "Joins …" with the name of the sequence.
The first email goes out within the next few hours, not instantly, even if the first step has no wait. That gives you room if you added the tag by mistake.
What if I remove the tag? They leave the sequence and do not get the emails that were still to come. What was already sent cannot be undone.
What if I change the sequence's tag? Nothing changes right away. Each customer adjusts the next time you save their tags: one who was already in and does not have the new tag leaves ("Leaves a sequence whose tag they no longer have"), and one who has it joins.
Can they get the same series twice? No. Each customer joins each sequence only once: if you remove the tag and add it again, you will see "Was already in …" and it is not sent again.
Who does not join? Anyone who did not leave an email and anyone who unsubscribed from your emails. We tell you under the tag at that moment.
What if I see "Change saved, but their sequence could not be updated"? Your tag change was saved, but the sequence change was not: the customer may not have joined it or, if you removed the tag, may still be getting its emails. The notice stays until you click "Retry", which sends the customer's same tags again. If the retry fails too, the notice stays and you can try again later.
A sequence with the "Tag added" trigger and no tag sends nothing: in the sequence list it shows as "No tag: never triggers". Edit it and type its tag.
